80% of Covid-19 hospital beds in Banke, once a hotspot, are vacant now

The Covid-19 situation now seems to be normal in Banke that was a hotspot of the infection in the country until one and a half months ago. Currently, around 80 per cent of the hospital beds allocated for Covid-19 patients are vacant.

The number of people currently receiving treatment for Covid-19 at several hospitals in the district is just 74. Among them,13 are from the district and the remaining 61 from outside the district, according to Tej Oli, the resource person for the Banke District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre.

As he says, beds allotted for Covid-19 cases at the hospitals here are becoming vacant as the infection rate is gradually slowing down.

There are 361 dedicated beds for Covid-19 patients in four small and large health facilities in the district. Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital, Western Hospital andUnited Hospital here provide treatment for Covid-19 cases.
