Kathmandu, July 27

The Department of Revenue Investigation has suspected that Ready Traders, which is involved in the 100 kg gold smuggling case, has been smuggling hidden gold in all the brake shoes imported over the past two months.

On Wednesday, the department raided the company’s warehouse in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu and recovered 1,162 more brake shoes which had been opened.

The department speculates that the smuggler may have taken out the gold from it.

“The brake shoes that we have found from the warehouse have been sent to the Department of Customs for testing,” said an official of the department.

According to the department, equipment used to melt gold and a gold weighing scale were also found in the warehouse.
