Kathmandu, January 23
Kathmandu Metropolitan City is banning roadside parking in the New Road area from Tuesday.
As an alternative, the city has said it will provide free parking facilities at Kathmandu Tower (former Old Bus Park).
Chief of City Police Rajunath Pandey shared that 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers can be parked at Kathmandu Tower. The new provision is expected to ease traffic in the area.
He said parking is prohibited on blacktopped roads in and around Dharmapath, Indrachowk, Khichapokhari, Mahabouddha, and around Bir Hospital.
Earlier, a similar prohibition on vehicle parking was imposed by the city in the Jhonche area.
