Kathmandu, October 28
Nepal and Bangladesh are set to clash again for the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 title.
Both teams secured their spots in the final by winning their respective semifinals on Sunday. This encounter will be a rematch of the 2022 championship held in Kathmandu, where Bangladesh defeated Nepal to claim their first-ever SAFF Women’s Championship title.
In the first semifinal of this year’s seventh edition, defending champions Bangladesh cruised to the final by defeating Bhutan 7-1. Host team Nepal, on the other hand, reached the final after a tense semifinal match against five-time champion India, winning 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
The final will take place on Wednesday. Nepal is making its sixth appearance in a SAFF Women’s Championship final, while this is Bangladesh’s third time. Playing for the third consecutive time on home soil, the Nepali team is determined to claim the championship title.
