Kathmandu, February 24
The Baitadi District Court has extended the remand of a teenage boy who was arrested on the charge of raping and murdering Bhagabati Bhatta, a 17-year-old girl in Chadepani, Dokdakedar rural municipality-7 of the Baitadi district.
The District Police Office had taken him to the court today after the five days’ period that the court allowed the law enforcers to keep him in custody finished. In response to the police demand, the court extended the remand in custody, informs Uttam Raj Subedi, the Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Chief.
Subedi claims the investigation is on the right track as further evidence is being collected to prove the charge.
Bhagirathi Bhatta, a resident of Chadepani, Dokdakedar rural municipality-7 of the Baitadi district, had gone missing while returning from school on February 3, and her body was found the next day.
Her neighbour, an 11th grader of the same school, was arrested on the charge on February 16. He is said to have confessed to both the crimes.
