The central bank of Nepal is collecting feedback from stakeholders and members of public to finalise the annual monetary policy for the next fiscal year 2019/20.

The fiscal year will begin on July 17, and the Nepal Rastra Bank has to finalise and issue the policy document before that. The NRB is likely to issue the policy around one week before the beginning of the new fiscal.

Gunakar Bhatta, executive director of NRB Research Department, says the policy will try to address plans and programmes announced in the budget statement. It has been learned that the NRB in the document will encourage big commercial banks to merge with each other.

“Besides, our preparation is focused on management of financial resources, expansion of financial accessibility and increasing investments in prioritised sectors.”

The feedback to be collected from stakeholders will also be addressed in the policy, Bhatta informs.
