Bhaktapur, November 23
Minister for Law Ajaya Shankar Nayak on Wednesday accused the main opposition CPN-UML of trying to portray itself as a nationalist force on the strength of foreign money.
Minister Nayak said this while speaking at a programme that Rafat Sanchar Club had organised. The UML is operating with foreign money and guidance, Nayak said, adding that this will not help strengthen nationality.
As the main opposition, the UML is thinking only of party interest at the expense of national interest, Nayak said, adding: ‘Fake nationalism’ of the UML is trying to mislead the country.
Nayak said no one in the Madhesh is in favour of naturalised citizens (making them eligible for nine constitutional positions). If some leaders are supporting naturalised citizens in this cause, there’s a need to control them, he said.
If big parties are honest, all election-related Acts will be ready by mid-December, Nayak said.
