
Kathmandu, February 19
Nepal is celebrating the National Democracy Day on Tuesday commemorating the struggle of the then political parties that ended the 104-year-old Rana oligarchy and established a democratic government in 1951.
Issuing separate statements on the occasion, government officials such as President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have expressed their best wishes on the occasion. Other political figures including former king Gyanendra Shah have also issued their statements.
In his statement, Bhandari has said Nepali people had expressed their desires for socio-economic transformation in multiple struggles for democracy, stating the Democracy Day would motivate the stakeholders to fulfill those wishes.
Likewise, Pun said all the concerned should come together to help the people realise their dreams.
PM Oli, in his message, reiterated that his government was committed to its ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’ campaign urging all the citizens to contribute to it from their respective positions.
