Chitwan, July 9
The Nawalpur section of the East-West Highway has been obstructed as a flood destroyed a culvert in Kawasoti of the district.
The road was obstructed in front of the Division Forest Office in Kawasoti since Thursday morning and it is yet to reopen, according to officials. DSP Dilip Kumar Giri of the District Police Office, however, says efforts are underway to resume the obstructed vehicular movement by tonight.
Thousands of vehicles have been stranded halfway on both sides of the roads.
DSP Giri says there is an alternative road, but it is lengthy and in bad condition. Further, heavy vehicles cannot ply that road.
