Kathmandu, January 19
Police have arrested two brothers on the charge of involvement in looting a cooperative in Lalitpur district about five months ago.
A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Ningma Lama and Pema Lama of Makwanpur district for allegedly stealing the safe of Bajrabarahi-based Santaneshwor Savings and Credit Cooperatives.
Police, citing an ongoing investigation, said the looting appears to be a premeditated plot.
After several rounds of reiki, the two had managed to steal the safe.
Police had managed to seize the safe and the jeep at Matatirtha in Kathmandu. At that time, the brothers had managed to flee.
On Thursday, however, an MTPD team managed to nab Pema from Satdobato, Lalitpur. Police had arrested Ningma a few days ago.
According to police, Ningma was the driver of the Tata Sumo used in executing the crime. In course of an investigation, the two said two others were also involved in the robbery. They are yet to reveal the identities of the accomplices.
