Kathmandu, October 10
The French government has announced a humanitarian aid of Euro 100,000 (equivalent to around Rs 12.2 million) targeting victims of recent floods in Banke and Dang districts of western Nepal.
The support would be provided through Handicap International/Nepal (HI). The organisation would target the families that are the most vulnerable such as persons with disabilities, according to the French Embassy in Kathmandu.
With the support, essential non-food items such as tarpaulin, mosquito net, bed, blanket and clothes would be provided. Likewise, health and rehabilitation camps would be organised to provide referral, physiotherapy and kinesiotherapy services.
About 700 families (3,500 persons) would receive nonfood item kits and about 400 people would benefit from health and rehabilitation camps, according to the Embassy. Likewise, about 600 vulnerable people would receive psychological support to overcome the trauma caused by the catastrophe, and about 300 wounded would receive functional rehabilitation support.
Earlier, the French government had provided Euro 200,000 to UNICEF/Nepal for the management of acute malnutrition in 18 flood-affected districts.
