Kathmandu, October 20
The Parliament meeting scheduled for Thursday has been postponed till Sunday. Lawmakers were supposed to seek an impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki at the meeting.
A total of 157 lawmakers from the CPN-Maoist Centre and the CPN-UML had registered the motion against Karki in the Parliament. Subsequently, the Parliament Secretariat was preparing to present the motion at Thursday’s Parliament meeting.
A notice on the postponement of the meeting was pasted at the Parliament. A source close to Speaker Onsari Gharti informed that the meeting had to be postponed to facilitate discussions on the issue among major political parties.
Meanwhile, Speaker Gharti has cancelled her visit to Geneva in the wake of an evolving political situation centred around the motion.
