Kathmandu, March 5
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has announced a grant worth Rs 44.17 million to the Naharpur Secondary School in Butwal of Rupandehi in southwestern Nepal.
Officials of the embassy’s Development Partnership and Reconstruction Wing, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and Butwal sub-metropolitan city signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the new school building, on Thursday.
The embassy says the new school building will be built under Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Partnership as a part of High Impact Community Development Project scheme programme of Government of India.
Currently, 1,127 students are enrolled in the school, about 50% of which are girls students.
Since 2003, under the High Impact Community Development Projects programme, earlier known as Small Development Projects, India has completed 446 projects in the areas of health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and creation of other public utilities across all seven provinces of Nepal, the embassy says.
