Investigation committee finds Min Bahadur’s group guilty of smuggling 138 kg of gold

Chandra Ghale brought seven gold bars weighing two kilograms each concealed in a vest inside his clothes.

The investigation committee of Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office concluded that Min Bahadur Ghale and his group smuggled 138 kg of gold. Out of this, 14 kg of gold was seized by the customs office last time.

On December 8, Chandra Ghale, who came to Kathmandu from Dubai, was arrested by the customs office with 14 kg of gold. Min Bahadur Ghale of Gorkha was also arrested during the investigation.

During the investigation, it was found that Min Bahadur had contacted a person named Ankit Agrawal in Dubai for arrangements to smuggle gold into Nepal.

The investigation committee said, “Time and again, Min Bahadur Ghale, Chandra Ale and Krishna Kumar Shrestha had brought a total of 138 kg of gold and brought it out from the airport after the arrangements to smuggle. Only 14 kg of gold, which Chandra Ghale smuggled in Nepal was seized last time.”

Min Bahadur and Chandra along with Krishna Kumar Shrestha used to bring gold from Dubai. It has been found that Dan Bahadur (DB) Gurung, was responsible for arrangements at the airport to smuggle the gold.

The committee concluded that employees and former employees of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Gaucharan — AC mechanic Radhakrishna Shrestha, office assistant Lek Bahadur Tamang, former contract employee Ramesh Deula, office assistant working in the AC branch Anil Shrestha and plumber Sher Bahadur Basnet played a role in smuggling gold from the airport.
