Kathmandu, May 9

The two-day Karnali policy dialogue and youth festival ended in Birendranagar in Surkhet on Monday, with the commitments to establishing a provincial youth council and issuing a provincial youth policy.

Ending the event attended by over 100 young people representing all the 10 districts of the Karnali province and provincial stakeholders including government officials, the participants issued a 20-point declaration.

The declaration was handed over to the provincial Social Development Minister Khadga Raj Pokharel for implementation.

Yuwalaya, a youth-led NGO that is organising the event, says the second day of the event featured panel discussions on safe migration, sexual and reproductive health rights, sexuality and gender-based violence and menstrual hygiene management.

The National Youth Council, European Union Delegation to Nepal, Oxfam in Nepal, Helvetas Nepal, Save the Children and Plan International Nepal were also involved in organising the event.
