Kathmandu, February 29
Lukla Airport has been shut after rumours that there’s a bomb inside an airplane.
An investigation has been launched after rumours that a bomb has been planted inside a plane belonging to Simrik Air. At Lukla, police have retrieved a paper with ‘Bomb’ written on it.
A Nepali Army team is arriving at the airport for further investigation, police said, adding that they are also investigating the matter.
Nepal’s aviation sector has been shaken with two planes — one belonging to Tara Air and the other belonging to Kasthamandap Airlines — crashing recently in Solighopte, Myagdi district, and Chilkhaya VDC-2, Kalikot.
In the Myagdi crash, all 23 on board the plane died, whereas in the Chilkhaya crash, the pilot and the co-pilot died, saving all nine passengers on board, as they managed to land the plane on a field after its single engine failed.
