Kathmandu, May 10
Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has forwarded to its embassy in New Delhi the decision to recall Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dip Kumar Upadhyaya.
Three days ago, the KP Oli Cabinet had decided to recall Ambassador Upadhyaya.
Minister for Industries Som Prasad Pandey confirmed with RSS that the government on Tuesday sent to New Delhi a letter to recall Upadhyaya.
The government has directed Upadhyaya to return to Nepal within 15 days after the date of his sacking.
The government had accused Upadhyaya of non-cooperation and of hobnobbing with a foreign diplomat and visiting Nepal’s strife-torn southern plains. It had accused him of leaving his duty station and coming to Nepal without informing the government.
On his part, Upadhyaya has said he has denied doing anything wrong.
