Kathmandu, January 10
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has decided to bar passengers from travelling atop buses.
The fuel shortage resulting from the Indian blockade had put a good number of privately-operated public buses off the road. This had given operators the excuse to cram passengers inside and atop buses.
The pressure of public transport on the road has returned to normal, the MTPD said, adding that it will no longer allow operators to run buses like that.
Chief of the division, Jaya Bahadur Chand, told Onlinekhabar: Now, we will take action against buses and microbuses if they disobey this rule.
The division has already decided to bar three adults from riding a bike.
