Nepal Covid-19 tally: 216 new cases, 209 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 2

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 925,231 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 216 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 5,962 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 213 returned positive. Likewise, 1,669 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 3 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.57 per cent of the PCR and 0.17 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.83 per cent.

As of today, there are 4,971 active cases across the country. Of them, 224 are hospitalised, 83 in intensive care units and 19 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 209 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 812,419 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,596 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 133,812 people were vaccinated today.
