Nepal Covid-19 tally: 260 new cases, 349 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 24

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 923,016 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 260 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,060 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 237 returned positive. Likewise, 3,838 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 23 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.94 per cent of the PCR and 0.59 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.18 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,048 active cases across the country. Of them, 231 are hospitalised, 77 in intensive care units and 21 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 349 people have achieved recovery whereas one death was reported.

Of the total cases so far, 810,271 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,582 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 329,371 people were vaccinated today.
