Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Sunday sought to assure all and sundry he will not sign any agreement with India against national interest.
Prachanda said this when leaders, including Bhim Rawal from the CPN-UML, during a meeting of the parliamentary Labour and International Relations Committee, inquired whether he is preparing to sign some deals with India.
It’s not Prachanda or Pushpa Kamal heading to India. It’s Nepal’s PM heading to India. I will do nothing that will compromise national interest. I can’t think of anything save national interest.
In his reply, Prachanda said: It’s not Prachanda or Pushpa Kamal heading to India. It’s Nepal’s PM heading to India. I will do nothing that will compromise national interest. ‘Can’t think of anything save national interest.
Prime Minister Prachanda expressed hope that his India visit will open a new chapter in Nepal-India relations.
Taking note of stress that developed in Nepal-India relations during promulgation of the Constitution, Prachanda said: I am heading to India with the mindset of moving ahead by reviewing the past and learning lessons.
Prachanda informed that he is convening an all-party meeting on September 13 to discuss his India visit, adding: Before that, however, I will visit Madhesh on September 12 to earn the trust of Madheshi peoples and address the Madhesh.
He said Constitution amendment is afoot for implementation of the understanding reached with the Federal Alliance. He expressed confidence that the CPN-UML will also help with Charter amendment.
