Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said on Friday it is possible to conduct local, provincial and federal elections simultaneously. Still, PM said, the government is preparing to conduct local polls in Baishakh, 2074 (about four months from now).
He said this while addressing the national conference of government attorneys in Kathmandu. He said the country will land in a serious crisis if parties try to run away from elections.
PM Prachanda said: We will have to conduct three-tier elections. Serious problems will arise if we try to shirk our responsibilities.
There’s strong possibility of conducting local elections within Baishakh, he said, adding: We can conduct provincial and federal elections within Mangsir (about 11 months from now). If we are under pressure, we can conduct all three elections simultaneously.
But it will be against the spirit of the Constitution if we say we will conduct one election and not conduct the other, he said.
