The NEPSE index dropped by 5.60 points (0.21%) on Wednesday, closing at 2,628.26 points. This follows a 0.11% increase on Tuesday, when the index had reached 2,633.87 points.
Last Thursday, the index had fallen by 1.23%, followed by a nearly 2% decline on Monday, before recovering slightly on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, shares worth Rs 4.27 billion were traded, with a total of 8.14 million shares exchanged across 13 sub-indices. Of these, three sub-indices saw slight gains, while eight recorded marginal losses.
The Finance sub-index recorded the highest increase, rising by 1.07%, followed by the Microfinance sub-index at 0.09% and the Trading sub-index at 0.50%.
Positive circuit breakers were triggered for shares of Upakar Microfinance and Support Microfinance. In terms of trading volume, Janaki Finance led with transactions worth NPR 155.9 million.
River Falls Power followed with Rs 120.6 million in trades, NRN Infrastructure and Development with Rs 116 million, Nepal Finance with Rs 107.5 million, and Sikles Hydropower with over Rs 80.9 million.
Conversely, shares of Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower, which had hit a negative circuit on Tuesday and dropped to Rs 2,970, fell further on Wednesday to Rs 2,676.
In total, the share prices of 81 companies increased, 149 companies declined, and 12 remained unchanged.
