The stock market posted a slight increase on the final trading day of the week. The NEPSE index rose by 2.47 points, reaching 2,745. During the afternoon session, the index peaked at 2,780 points at 2:10 pm. However, the overall gain was trimmed as the market declined later in the day.
Despite the market’s decline, trading volume saw a significant rise. Yesterday’s transaction amounted to Rs 5.66 billion, while today’s volume surged to Rs 7.19 billion. Of the listed companies, 89 saw price increases, 142 experienced declines, and 13 remained unchanged.
The trade sector faced the largest decline, dropping by 2.10%. In contrast, the banking sector rose by 0.40%, finance by 0.51%, investment by 0.71%, manufacturing by 0.21%, and other sectors gained by 0.36%. The non-life insurance sector remained mostly stable. The microfinance sector fell by 0.19%, life insurance by 0.24%, hydropower by 0.12%, hotel and tourism by 1.48%, and the development bank sector dropped by 0.64%.
Goodwill Finance saw the highest price increase, rising by 7.6%, followed by Samaj Laghubitta and Rawa Energy, both up by 5.12%. Upper Syange Hydropower posted the largest decline, falling by 5.19%, while Mid-Solu Hydropower dropped by 5.03%, Samudayik Laghubitta by 4.47%, Support Microfinance by 3.41%, Vishal Bazaar Company by 3.16%, and Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta by 3.04%.
Leading the market in trading volume were Kumari Bank, HIDCL Promoter, Himalayan Reinsurance, Ngadi Group Power, and Goodwill Finance.
