Dharan, December 4
Newly elected mayor of Dharan sub-metropolitan city has assumed his office on Wednesday. A by-election held on Saturday had elected Tilak Rai, a local leader of Nepali Congress, to the position.
The position was vacant since the death of mayor Tara Subba in July last year.
Before assuming his office, Rai garlanded the statue of late Nepali Congress leader Ganesh Man Singh in Dharan-16 and the statue of late Subba in a community forest in Dharan-19.
Meanwhile, newly elected ward 7 chair Jeevan Raj Subedi also assumed his office today.
