Kathmandu, November 14
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of providing security to candidates of ruling parties only while it has neglected security threats posed to candidates of the leftist alliance.
After an unidentified gang hurled an explosive at the vehicle carrying UML candidate Sherdhan Rai in Bhojpur district of eastern Nepal and injured his bodyguard, the former Prime Minister issued a statement to condemn the incident.
Citing that other candidates of the leftist alliance faced similar attacks in other parts of the country too earlier, Oli says he is shocked by the government’s apathy to the security of candidates belonging to the parties against it.
The leader claims that candidates of ruling parties have been provided with unnecessary security personnel while those of oppositions are not getting any support even after they demand so.
Claiming the attack on its lead was the attack on the entire party, Oli demanded that the government take such incidents seriously, take actions against those responsible in the attack, and ensure peaceful and fair elections.
