Kathmandu, February 6
The Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu organised a talk program on Kashmir Solidarity Day titled “Kashmir: A Test of International Law and Conscience”. The event brought together journalists, writers, analysts, and human rights activists to discuss the Kashmir issue.
According to a press statement released by the embassy, messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar were read out during the event.
President Zardari reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an unresolved conflict, with India’s actions since August 5, 2019, further disempowering Kashmiris. Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s diplomatic and political support for Kashmiris, emphasizing that their right to self-determination is upheld by international law and UN resolutions. Foreign Minister Dar urged India to allow international observers and called on the UN to implement its resolutions for lasting peace in South Asia.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, highlighted the role of international law and civil society in supporting Kashmir’s cause. The discussion focused on the need for global awareness, legal measures, and diplomatic dialogue to address the Kashmir issue.
The event underscored Pakistan’s continued stance on Kashmir and its call for international intervention.
