Pokhara, December 26
Police have arrested Milan Shrestha alias Prakash, a senior official at the zonal office of Salt Trading Corporation based in Pokhara, on the charge of involvement in a 10-year-old murder. A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division nabbed the 30-year-old from Prithvi Chok, Pokhara, on Monday.
According to police, the arrest is related with the killing of Baikuntha Pun at Ranibari Chok on July 16, 2006. Pun was from Dhuwakot-9, Shantipur, Gulmi district. Before the attack, Pun and Ram Bahadur Thami had engaged in a fight, police informed.
Later, a gang, including Prakash, allegedly attacked Pun at the Chok with iron rods and killed him, according to police. The gang later fled to Makwanpur. They returned to Kathmandu after sometime and started living at Bohoratar, Kathmandu.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Shrestha from Prithvi Chok, the division informed. The division said it has handed over Shrestha to Metropolitan Police Complex Kathmandu for further action.
