Kathmandu, May 15
The newly formed Samajwadi Party Nepal led by Baburam Bhattarai and Upendra Yadav says it has sought a clarification from its lawmaker Pradeep Yadav over his reported participation at an event that supported the free Tibet movement.
Responding to a recent media report that Yadav and RJPN lawmaker Iqabal Miya participated at the event held in Riga of Latvia, the party chair Upendra Yadav informed that the party did not know he was attending the event.
“His visit to that country and participation was entirely in his personal capacity and does not reflect the party’s position,” the chairman’s statement reads, “However, the party will take an appropriate disciplinary action on him if his clarification is not found satisfactory.”
The party has maintained that it “unequivocally respects and stands in favour of Nepal’s One China Policy
and not allowing any kind of anti-China activities in its soil.”
