Kathmandu, August 23
The main opposition party, CPN-UML, says it will mobilise all forces of the party to make it the biggest force in the third phase of local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18.
A meeting of the party’s Standing Committee held at the party headquarters in Dhumbarahi of Kathmandu on Wednesday made the decision, informs party Secretary Pradeep Gyawali.
The party has emerged as the biggest political force in the country from two phases of local level elections held in six other provinces in May and June and aspires to maintain the lead in Province 2 as well.
Meanwhile, the party welcomed the government’s decision to hold elections to the Provincial Assembly and the federal House of Representatives on November 26.
The party decided to get itself registered with the Commission for provincial and federal polls on Friday, according to Gyawali. Party’s Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam has been authorised to carry out the procedure.
The Election Commission has set the deadline of coming Sunday for party registration for the November polls.
