Shortage of petroleum products will be a thing of the past pretty soon, if Nepal Oil Corporation’s claim is anything to go by. NOC is making preparations to distribute oil from all fuel stations on a regular basis. This means people will not have to queue up for hours to get oil, NOC says.

From next week, we can distribute oil on a regular basis, Mukunda Ghimire, NOC spokesperson, told Onlinekhabar.com. We plan to distribute oil from all petrol pumps on a regular basis from next week. In 8-10 days, people will not have to queue up for oil based on lot numbers of their vehicles, according to Ghimire.
For this, however, IOC’s Raxaul and other depots will have to give us oil as per our demand, Ghimire said. Oil supply situation can return to normal within a week after reopening of Birgunj customs, which accounts for 70 per cent of oil imports, according to NOC.
On Tuesday, NOC demanded 1,600 kl oil from IOC. While on Monday, IOC fulfilled 50 per cent of Nepal’s demand for oil. On Tuesday, IOC is expected to supplyy 1,500 kl oil.
Now on, NOC plans to distribute oil brought through Birgunj in central Tarai, Kathmandu Valley and the vicinity.
Oil brought in course of a week will fill up empty tankers, according to Ghimire. In the meantime. NOC will continue to refuel vehicles based on their lot numbers.
