Kathmandu, July 13
The government has authorised six private labs to conduct coronavirus tests in the country. Four of them are located in the Kathmandu valley whereas Butwal and Nepalgunj have one each.
The National Public Health Laboratory has authorised the labs as they met the criteria the government had set to conduct coronavirus tests, according to the lab’s spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Gupta.
Star Hospital in Sanepa of Lalitpur, Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital in Sinamangal of Kathmandu, Central Diagnostic Lab in Naya Baneshwar of Kathmandu, Surya Health Care of Lazimpat of Kathmandu, National Path Lab in Butwal of Rupandehi, and Bageshwari Lab in Nepalgunj of Banke have been allowed to conduct the tests.
These labs, however, cannot collect swab samples on their own; the government hands over the samples to them.
So far, 25 labs across the country are conducting the tests.
