Doti, August 8
An SMG has gone missing from Nepal Army’s Far-Western Regional Headquarters based in Dipayal. On Sunday evening, an NA team arrived in Dipayal in search of the missing weapon, an NA source informed.
According to the source, the ‘disappearance of the SMG’ loaded with two magazines, belonging to the Garud Dal Battalion, has shaken the army.
There are rumours that an army jawan has vanished with the weapon, though the army has said no officer is at large.
NA officials at the headquarters are unwilling to comment on the SMG case. The loss of a weapon from the army barracks has also made locals suspicious.
Since Saturday, army teams have been subjecting vehicles to security checks in Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Doti, among other places. Army and police personnel have been conducting security checks on vehicles plying major roads of the region.
