Kathmandu, March 30
The Teachers Service Commission says it has postponed the examination it had scheduled for coming Friday for recruitment of teachers at government schools across the country.
The postponement follows the announcement of an indefinite educational strike by three major student unions last night.
The CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union (NSU) and CPN-Maoist Centre-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNNISU-R) had announced the strike demanding that the provision of 75 per cent reservation to temporary teachers in examinations of the Teachers Service Commission that the ninth amendment to the Education Act incorporated be removed with a new amendment.
They had also said the TSC’s examination scheduled for next week Friday should be postponed until their demand was met.
A notice issued by the Commission says it has postponed the examination owing to a directive from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. It adds that the exam will be rescheduled incorporating both internal and open candidates.
