Chitwan, January 10
As many as 14 Royal Bengal tigers were found in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park adjacent to Balmiki Tiger Reserve of India.
In the course of the monitoring carried out by the Park during 40 days since October 12, 2023, eight female and four male tigers were found in the area.
The Park’s Information Officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari shared that the monitoring was undertaken by dividing the bio-route into 62 grids. He further informed that 62 pairs of cameras were installed in an area covering two square kilometres each.
In the 2018 survey, three tigers were identified, while the 2022 National Tiger Survey revealed eight. Tiwari attributed this increase in tiger population to the active involvement of the local community in conservation efforts and the dedicated work of the office.
