Chitwan, March 25
A coal-laden truck veered off the road and plunged into the Trishuli River along theMuglin-Narayangadh road section, killing the driver and injuring the assistant driver.
The accident occurred at around 6:30 AM near Chaudhakilo, when the truck (Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 4874) lost control and fell into the river.
According to Chitwan police, the driver, identified as Ramnarayan Yadav (aged around 30-35) from Rautahat, died in the crash, while the assistant driver, 19-year-old Asundra Kumar Yadav, also from Rautahat, sustained injuries.
Upon receiving the report, a team led by Sub-Inspector Thakur Prasad Paneru from the Jugedi Area Police Office was deployed to the scene. The team rescued both victims and rushed them to Bharatpur Government Hospital. The assistant driver was later referred to New Medical College, Bharatpur, at 7:50 AM for further treatment, while doctors declared the driver dead at 8:20 AM.
Police reported that the truck was completely damaged, with half of it submerged in the Trishuli River. Efforts are underway to retrieve the vehicle.
