Kathmandu, March 6
Tribhuvan University has postponed Free Student Union elections in a number of campuses, including RR Campus (FSU polls have already taken place in some other campuses throughout the country). This came after the Election Commission wrote a second letter to the TU within 24 hours, pointing that election code of conduct has already taken effect (in view of local level elections slated for May 14). On Sunday too, EC had directed TU not to conduct FSU elections, citing the poll code. But the CPN-UML-aligned student union, ANNFSU, had pointed that the poll code does not apply to FSU elections as they are a pre-scheduled event.
ANNFSU leaders had called students close to them to appear at the campuses on Monday for voting. At RR Campus, students had gathered early in the morning to cast their votes.
