Police have rescued two young women from the Nepal-India border in Bhantabari, Koshi rural municipality-8, of Sunsari on Wednesday.
DSP Narendra Kumar Karki of the District Police Office says the residents of the neighbouring Saptari district were rescued while they were allegedly being taken to India for human sacrifice.
A joint security team of Nepali and Indian police rescued the girls from the bordering area, DSP Karki informs. The rescued women are 19 and 22 years old.
Police have arrested two men for further investigation. They are Mahammad Sahil Mansuri, 29, of Banauli, Krishna Sawaran rural municipality-4, and Jeevachha Kumar Saha, 29, of Lahan municipality-19, Siraha.
In the course of interrogation, one of the women shared with the police that they were being taken for offering worship at a temple based in Indian market, Bhimnagar.
The girls were said to be provided with Rs 200,000 for meditation during the time of ongoing worship in the temple across the border.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, DSP Karki addss.
