Kathmandu, November 22
Two organisations affiliated to the CPN-UML have announced programmes against the government’s Constitution amendment plan.
ANNFSU and Youth Association Nepal announced their protests on Tuesday, pointing that the amendment process has begun even before full implementation of the Charter.
In a press statement, YAN Chair Rajiv Pahari and ANNFSU Chair Nabina Lama said: The masses will not keep quite if there are efforts to amend the Constitution without popular will. Young students will hit the streets against such efforts without fearing for their lives.
The organisations appealed all patriotic and young students to stand firmly in defence of the Constitution and for its implementation.
On Thursday, YAN and ANNFSU are organising a workshop on Constitution Implementation and the Issue of Amendment at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi. The two organisations stated in their joint release that this programme will exert pressure for implementation of the Charter, apart from helping raise awareness on the Constitution.
