The CPN-UML has said it will win almost half of local units in Province 2 as eight districts of Terai will hold local level elections on September 18.
While there are 127 local units in Terai, the party has expected to win top positions in at least 60 rural municipalities and municipalities, according to UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai.
Central office-bearers of the party recently reported to the top leadership that the party is getting stronger in all districts and winning 60 units is possible, Bhattarai says.
The leader says the party is confident of becoming the biggest force in the province.
Meanwhile, the Central Secretariat meeting of the party has decided to mobilise central leaders, lawmakers and newly elected people’s representatives from other provinces for electioneering in Province 2.
