Kathmandu, September 11
The main opposition CPN-UML has objected to the recent Cabinet expansion claiming the government cannot appoint new ministers as the Election Commission has already begun procedures for federal House of Representatives elections and implemented the code of conduct.
Further, the party has called the constitutional body to intervene and prevent the expansion.
UML Parliamentary Party’s Deputy Leader Subas Chandra Nembang says the party has already drawn the attention of Commission officials to the matter.
He warns that the party will retaliate if the decision is not withdrawn.
“There is not any condition to topple or make a new government now,” Nembang says, “The code of conduct bars the government from transferring lower level staff too. So, adding new ministers is a grave violation of the code.”
Meanwhile, the leader has claimed his party has received information on the transfer of district judges and warns it will also be against the code of conduct.
