Nepali Army Chief Rajendra Chhetri leaving for weeklong visit to China, itinerary includes visit to PLA units, high-level talks

Kathmandu, March 27

Chief of the Army Staff, General Rajendra Chhetri, is embarking on a weeklong visit to China on Sunday.

His China visit comes at a time when Prime Minister KP Oli is returning home upon completion of a weeklong visit to the northern neighbour where he signed 10 agreements, including a trade and transit pact.

The Nepali Army Chief is visiting China on the invitation of General Fang Fenghui, chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. His wife Rita Chhetri and director-genreal of the Logistics and Warfare Department Himalaya Thapa are among members of the eight-member team leaving for China.

During the visit that will end on April 2, CoAS Chhetri will visit different units of the PLA and hold high-level meetings, according to the NA’s Department of Public Relations.

China had provided medical equipment worth one billion rupees during the visits of his predecessors Chhatra Man Singh Gurung and Gaurab Shumsher Rana.
