Kathmandu, September 6
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said on Tuesday that he considers implementation of the Constitution and economic development as main challenges of his tenure.
He said: Last year’s earthquakes and the blockade have caused a drastic decline in Nepal’s economic condition. My government has taken shape when inflation is 10 per cent, economic growth rate is below one per cent and trade deficit is more than seven billion rupees. Constitution implementation and economic development are my main challenges.
It may be difficult for us to implement the Federal Republican Constitution, introduced by waging a massive struggle full of sacrifices and fighting hardships, if we fail to deal with these challenges
Prachanda, speaking at a programme that Nepal Economic Association had organised, said it may be difficult to implement the Federal Republican Constitution, introduced by waging a massive struggle full of sacrifices and fighting hardships, if we fail to deal with these challenges.
Remittance has become the mainstay of the national economy, he said, adding that it will not be able to earn foreign currencies in the long run. Prachanda said his government is ready to utilise remittance for capital creation and for investment in productive sectors.
PM Prachanda said he will hold talks with the association and intellectuals on providing skill-oriented training to youths and on productive utilisation of remittance.
