Category ‘A’ banks record net profit of Rs 63 billion

Category ‘A’ banks in Nepal have recorded a net profit of Rs 63 billion in the last fiscal year. In the fiscal year 2020/21, 27 banks recorded a net profit of Rs 63.37 billion which is Rs 11 billion more than they recorded in the fiscal year 2019/20.

Out of the 27 banks, most of the banks have recorded an increase in their profits while only a few have recorded a decrease according to the bank’s balance sheet for the fiscal year 2020/21.

Nabil Bank tops the list as the most profitable bank in the country as it recorded a profit of Rs 4.5 billion. Second on the list is Global IME that recorded a profit of Rs 4.12 billion as it made almost Rs 2 billion more than the last fiscal year.

The third most profitable bank is Rashtriya Banijya Bank that recorded a profit of Rs 3.79 billion which is nearly a billion less than what it recorded last year.

Agriculture Development Bank with a profit of Rs 3.69 billion is in fourth while Nepal Investment Bank, with a profit of Rs 3.65 billion, is fifth on the list.

Banks doing well despite the coronavirus pandemic is being looked at in a positive manner.
