Kathmandu, November 19
The Metropolitan Police Range in Bhaktapur has arrested a man who posted a video of Nikisha Shrestha, a transwoman, being harrassed on the road.
Bishesh Joshi has been arrested for further investigation as per a request made by the cybercrime bureau of Nepal Police, according to SP Tara Devi Thapa, the chief of the MPR Bhaktapur.
In the preliminary interrogation, Joshi has claimed he just uploaded the video and is not involved in the harassment, informs Thapa.
For the past few days, the short video has gone viral on social media and there are demands galore for action against the culprits.
On Wednesday, the Nepal Police Headquarters had directed the cybercrime bureau to look into the case.
Police say they are further investigating the case.
