Bus carrying Nepali pilgrims crashes in Bihar, over 30 injured

A bus carrying Nepali pilgrims has crashed in the Samastipur district of Bihar, India, leaving more than 30 people injured.

The bus, with license plate number Na 7 Kha 6446, was carrying 43 passengers when it was hit from behind by a truck on Saturday night, causing the bus to lose control and overturn, according to Indian media reports.

Reports from various Indian online news outlets state that around three dozen passengers were injured in the accident. Five people, including a teenager, are in critical condition. The injured are being treated at Musrigharari Hospital and private clinics.

The overturned bus has been lifted with the help of a crane. Indian police have taken the truck that caused the accident into custody and are investigating the incident.

According to SSP Sanjay Pandey, the injured passengers are residents of Bara district in Nepal. They were en route to the Deoghar pilgrimage site in Jharkhand to offer water when the accident occurred.

Bara’s Chief District Officer, Shashidhar Ghimire, stated that he had not yet been informed about the incident.
