Kathmandu, February 28

An aircraft from Thailand’s Aerothai has completed scheduled calibration flights at the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa of Lumbini.

After the completion of the flights, the newly constructed airport is preparing to launch commercial flights. The airport administration has already announced that the regular commercial flights will begin on May 16, on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has decided to conduct calibration flights at five other existing airports and the newly constructed Pokhara International Airport with the same aircraft.

The aircraft was scheduled to return to Bangkok after calibration flights at Bhairahawa, but the authority later decided to conduct more such flights as the well-equipped aeroplane is already available in the country.

The test flights would be conducted at airports in domestic airports in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj and Simara.
