Gas cylinder explosion in Kamalpokhari: All injured shifted to Kirtipur Burn Hospital

Kathmandu, February 6

Eleven people injured in a gas cylinder explosion at Sandar Momo restaurant in Kamalpokhari have been transferred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment, police confirmed.

Initially, the injured received first aid at Himal Hospital before being moved to Kirtipur. Among them, one person is in critical condition, while the remaining 10 have sustained minor injuries.

According to police, a total of 14 people were affected by the explosion, but three did not require hospitalisation. The blast occurred at around 8:45 am in the kitchen of the restaurant, causing the ceiling of the ground floor to collapse and shattering windows on the upper floors.

Eyewitnesses reported a loud explosion, followed by the immediate arrival of police and ambulances at the scene. A rescue team, led by DSP from the Maligaun Police Circle, was deployed for emergency response.

Initially, the injured were taken to Himal Hospital, but due to the severity of their burns, all were later transferred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for specialised treatment.
