Sunsari, December 10
An Indian national, allegedly a dacoit, died in an exchange of fire between Nepal Police personnel and a gang of robbers at Musahari Tole in Koshi Rural Municipality of Sunsari district last night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal informed that an Indian dacoit was killed in the exchange of fire between the police team deputed from the District Police Office for robbery control and the group of dacoits from India.
The deceased, aged around 35, is yet to be identified.
The police said they resorted to open fire for self defense after the suspected group of dacoits targeted the police team.
Other members of the gang ran away to India after police intervention, said Phuyal.
Investigation into the incident is underway and the body was sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for postmortem, the District Police Office said.
