Kathmandu, January 12
At the upcoming regional conference of Interpol, Nepal Police will propose holding discussions on gold smuggling.
AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma, chief of the Crime Investigation Department, informed that during the three-day conference, which will take place in Kathmandu next week, there will be discussions on gold smuggling with Interpol country chiefs.
Sharma, speaking at a press conference at Nepal Police Headquarters, said they will try to unearth gold smuggling networks by convening discussions on the same. Sharma said there will be discussions on whether Dubai or any other place is the hub of gold smuggling.
Interpol chiefs from 52 countries are arriving in Kathmandu for the conference. Of them, three will take part as observers.
At the conference, Nepal Police IG Upendra Kanta Aryal will present a working paper on steps that Nepal has taken against human trafficking and the current situation.
Other agendas include terrorism control initiatives in the Asia-Pacific, situation of human trafficking, organised crime and cybercrime.
